NIPFN SERVICES
The National Incarcerated Parents and Families Network team, headed by Charles Stuart, offers effective, reality-based training for people seeking to work with incarcerated parents in correctional facilities and with the families of these individuals in re-entry back into their lives and back into our communities.
We believe in what we do and we believe that we can make a difference in the lives of the individuals and families we team with.

Understanding "Self" Training
|
Here we teach offenders how to be more responsible parents and people while being incarcerated.
This is an offenders facilitation training. This can be essential to gaining the trust of a group. This is not a "power" position for the offender, but one of helping and mentoring.
This is a very important service. Train the Trainers. If a person only has a curriculum and not the experience and knowledge to train that specific curriculum, the goals and objectives will not be reached. and it could be more detrimental to that offender and family.
We believe that before we can exact a change in someone, they must know and have an understanding of themselves. We help them to understand this process. |
Understanding Mentoring while incarcerated
|
We assist the offenders in understanding what "Mentoring" is and it's benefits, not only to them but to their children. We teach them how to be a Mentor while behind bars. We have found that most offenders have no understanding of this process and were looking at it as if someone else was taking over their family or parenting their children.

Re-entry/Returning to your Community
Effective communication while incarcerated.
Correctional Staff Training, Counseling and Consulting. |
We start immediately preparing offenders for returning to their communities, and how to communicate with the people therein .
Some offenders may not be returning to their communities in the near future, or at all, but they still need to understand how to communicate with the various communities within a correctional institution.
A study by Penn State found that failure to fully inform and involve the correctional staff can be detrimental to the success of the program. We offer training to educate the staff to insure positive participation. We will also offer parenting consultation to staff members if requested.
